The Annual Cast Metal Awards industry dinner is always a great time to get together with other top people in the industry, to celebrate the best of British casting. This year, the awards were held at The Manor Hotel in Meriden.
2017 has been a challenging year for us, which is why we were so pleased to have won the Company Achievement Award. The competition was strong, with Goodwin Steel Castings, Maycast-Nokes Precision Engineering and Wall Colmonoy all shortlisted, and well-deserved.
Our turnaround in sales, driven by investment in buildings, plant and people; and our move into the North American market contributed towards the award win.
We currently employ 106 people at our base in Leicester, in a traditional 1930s building. With the decline in share of some key home markets, we developed a strategy which allowed us to expand into North America, and invest in a major refurbishment and capital programme, to create a working environment for the future. The end result has been very successful – 50% growth in sales and profitability.
Our Chairman, Robert Harrison, stated: “The company had reached something of a crossroads with both its location and a drop in traditional markets. The successful turnaround has come from a combination of carefully implemented strategy and a confidence in the capability of the exceptional team we have here”.
The awards were a great way to celebrate what had been a challenging, yet exciting year for us, and we want to congratulate everyone who won and was nominated on the night.
